Over the weekend we shared a stall with the Goolwa to Wellington Local Action Planning Association, down at the South Australian Wooden Boat Festival at Goolwa. Ben Simon from the GWLAP Strath Office took the opportunity to promote some of the fantastic work that the local dedicated Coastcare group are doing on the beach and dunes near Goolwa while we promoted the Lakes Hub, Community Nursery Network and how to look after our beautiful Lakes & Coorong. It was a great weekend and goes to show how much passion there is out on the water; a passion for history, a passion for boating, and a passion for sport, a passion for the great outdoors, the environment and the water.

I have to admit I’ve spent a couple of days this summer out on the water and must say I’m a little taken with the idea of boating myself. The danger lies in browsing on Gumtree for boats I can’t afford… 🙂

Nevertheless, there is something about getting a different perspective on things that boating offers, I imagine the case might be the same for those who soar the skies in their light aircraft.

No, I’m not even tempted there.

Have a great week,
Stuart Jones.
