Last Friday I was lucky enough to be invited on a tour of Raukkan with Community Leaders Derek Walker (Manager Ngopamuldi Aboriginal Corporation) and Clyde Rigney (Manager Raukkan Community, Community Development). I was struck by the pride and positive attitude of these two men as they talked about not only some of their fantastic achievements but also about the past and exciting plans for the future!
We were taken on a tour and learned about how they have set up a number of successful businesses, Community Nursery, employment programs, ongoing training, restoration of historic buildings, church, museum and shop etc. I came away feeling inspired!
This Saturday November 24th is the Raukkan Yuntu – Walun Festival from 11am – 5pm. Go along and find out more about some of the exciting projects in the pipeline at Raukkan.
